These groups are play- based social skills groups for children ages 4 to 8. Our goal is to provide opportunities for spontaneous and facilitated peer interaction in a play-based setting.  We aim to do so through a variety of structured and unstructured activities in a scheduled format, which include facilitated free play, music and circle time, and table-top activities.

Our goal is to provide opportunities for spontaneous and facilitated peer interaction in a play-based setting.  We aim to do so through a variety of structured and unstructured activities in a scheduled format, which include facilitated free play, music and circle time, and table-top activities.

Our Goals
• Build turn-taking skills
• Improve cooperative play
• Increase pretend play
• Facilitate initiation of peer interactions
• Facilitate smoother transitions
• Improve language in a social environment
• Facilitate appropriate body/space awareness in social situations

• Facilitate teamwork
• Improve sharing, conversational skills, non-verbal communication
• Address cooperating/negotiating with peers
• Maximize following directions
• Repair communication breakdowns

Enrollment

Your child may be appropriate if:

• He or she is 4 to 8 years old
• He or she can independently follow 2-step directions
• He or she can communicate in at least short phrases

In addition, each child will undergo a brief screening prior to enrollment.  This ensures that all participants are well-matched with peers for optimal success.
