Wednesday April 2, 2008 is the first World Autism Day.

 

To mark this special day, LADDERS is sponsoring a movie viewing followed by a panel discussion at the Studio Cinema Belmont, 376 Trapelo Road, Belmont, starting at 7 pm.

 

Mozart and the Whale: an Asperger Love Story is based on the autobiography by Jerry Newport. The book has been described as is a riveting and inspiring memoir about a couple who fell in love, fell apart, and finally overcame the pressures of fame, family, and Asperger's syndrome to build a life together.

The movie will be followed by a panel discussion. Panelists include:

 

  • Dr. Margaret Bauman, Child Neurologist, Director of LADDERS
  • Stephen Shore, Ed.D, Author of several books including: Beyond the Wall: Personal Experiences with Autism and Asperger Syndrome
  • Sheldon Wagner, Ph.D, Behavioral Psychologist, Director of Developmental Behavioral and Educational Services.
